Hi guys,
Finally getting around to sorting my Mum's car out.
Investigating a possible head gasket leak as oil in water.
My question is when removing head how do I lock the timing chain in place?
Is there any specific holes for locking? And how to slacken off chain too?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Danny

Hi Danny
I'd follow the guide given by the Haynes manual for stuff like this.
It's all there, blow by blow. The guide does all the thinking for you.
I used Haynes for the head gasket on my 190e and there was one bolt they failed to mention in the whole process. That one bolt had been raised by a member on here, for the rest, Haynes was brilliant.

Thanks mate for the advice will stick with my Haynes then.
I did my coolant renewal like you advised and it worked a treat so thanks for that also.
Will let you know what I find and keep you all posted.

Regards
Danny
