soft sealer rear screen refit question

Hi
My rear screen was leaking water into the boot. My body shop removed the rear screen. They took care of a tiny bit of surface rust on one bottom corner, cleaned up and treated the rubber ( which is in very good order) and refitted the screen using vasoline to seal.
It didn t work. The parcel shelf and c pillar interior panels and rear seat are out. I washed the car today. I can see the water dripping slowly entering from both bottom corners of the screen and lodging and eventually flowing and dripping into the boot(boot panels are out also).
I will bring it back to my body shop man (whom i trust btw) and ask him if he feels like trying removal again...except resealing with soft sealant this time.

The question i have is where should the soft sealant be applied and does this not really inhibit the reinstalling with the rope method?
Advice please on how much and where to apply the soft sealer.
Thank you for any help
D.

P.s.
I have read the excellent removal of rear screen in the stickies too. The rear c pillar vents have been resealed. The tail lights don t leak. The boot lock seal has been replaced. There boot rubber lets in a few drops but i have that isolated to one corner and will sort that soon...just to reassure you i understand the diverse ways the 190e boot takes in water.
