Hi all, I see a lot of posts on here with engine problems but often the thread isn't concluded so can be frustrating for people reading who are suffering the same or similar issues. Thought it might be helpful to see an issue solved. Prior to this I tested the spark plugs and rigged up the injectors with clear plastic bottles so they I could observe the fuel spray pattern. Although it wasn't causing the problem, I also changed the voltage regulator as the pins were extremely worn. Think it was £10 so very worthwhile preventative maintenance. Problem; Irratic idle, engine dying at low idle and hard to start engime again. Solution; Reposition rubber boot under kjet unit as one edge had folded over very slightly after reassembly. Adjusted fuel/air to correct ratio. Replaced faulty ovp relay. Worth noting that I didn't have the common abs light associated with this. Also, I originally purchased a replica relay from the SL shop to save money but it turned out to be faulty. Swapped for new Merc part and problem solved. The idle is now constant and driving Regularly with no issues. |

Hi, and thanks for the info. As you say it's useful to know what did the trick when something is fixed.. Quick question - other than the starting/running issues, were there any other symptoms that you can put down to the dodgy OVP relay? Cheers, John |

Very occasionally in park (it's an auto), the car would rev on its own. |

Forgot to mention, I also re-centred the metering plate on the kjet |
