Hi guys, My Mum's 190 diesel is hard to start without pressing the accelerator pedal. The glow plugs have been changed and delivery seals on the pump. It will start eventually on its own and runs fine. Pump seals are all torqued down correctly. Glow plugs all correct. Can it be idle adjustment? Thanks Regards Danny |

Mine always needs the pedal flat to the floor to start it. I think that's just how they are.

there are only 2 things that will stop these engines starting and running properly, lack of fuel and air in the fuel system, is it always hard to start, or is it only the 1st start of the day that is difficult ? I have seen a couple of times, that when the delivery seals have been changed that there was running issues tht werent there before, was the seals leaking ? Have you changed the leak off pipes (return pipes on injectors) ? it is possible they look completely fine but have microscopic cracks that suck air in, for the sake of a couple of quid, might be worth trying , as it is a thing a lot of people tend to overlook does it start any better if you get someone to hold the "stop" button up before turning the key ?Edited by shrekky, Tue Feb 13, 2018 11:24 am.

I'm with Shrekky here - leak-off pipes and the fuel shut-off vacuum box that he's hinting at with the STOP lever test. They are both known trouble-causers. |

Hi guys, turned out it was leaking on the stop end leak off point, all fine now. Only a slight leak as well! I suppose air can soon be drawn in. Thanks for all your help. Regards Danny |
