Been told that bonnet pads for the 2.5-16 are no longer stocked by Mercedes in Germany and the dealer network up in the North East doesn't have any on the shelf. Does anyone know of any available, or other sources? Part number is MA201 680 06 25. In terms of another route... would a standard pad with additional heat shielding work? Or a bonnet pad from another model trimmed to fit? Mine is is pretty terrible condition so I need to sort it - embarrassed to open the bonnet! Any help greatly appreciated. |

y2 i know how you feell. Mine is not to bad, but its on the cards for replacement asap. You do need the right adesive or the job or it will need doing again after it comes loose . I was looking at the covering materials on ebay .Might be worth a look .But if you want it to be original i would try all the dealers you can . Thety still have them for the w124 so they must be at one of the other merc dealers .If they dont have them here , they will get them from Germany for you . |

W124 pad trimmed down or ebay purchase wouldn't be classed as OE for originality, but would be as good as each other and better than nothing. As Mr Prime says, the correct adhesive is also a must. Can't remember what I used on mine, when it comes back to me I'll post it up. I believe Mercedes do still sell their adhesive for it. |

Forget the MB adhesive, it is way too dear and not easy to work with. Any decent high temperature contact adhesive will do the job just fine and last just as long as the original stuff. I have done several W124, never had one come off in over 10 years. I need a new insulation pad for the 190 and this is the glue I ordered: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01L9E4JL6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_fUspBb5RD15GM |

I think what'll have happened regarding NLA pads is there will be one type that will be kept in production for all variants which is most likely to be the 2.6 or the diesel bonnet pad. I'm guessing the 2.6 one because its the easiest to produce.

Ask your dealer to do a search: UK, Europe and world wide. |

Thanks for the inputs. Is the W124 pad difficult to trim down? Dealer wise i've been in touch with several networks in the UK and sent requests off to Germany and the US. My local dealer couldn't find one on the Mercedes system unfortunately. It's a pain because I want to replace the pad before I start on cleaning the engine bay! |

I fitted a new dealer supplied pad a couple of years ago to my 2.6 so hope they might still stock these. Could you not bond the heat shield from your old pad onto a new one? |

Cheers for those Ben. Neither had stock, despite what one of the sites said, but I'm still determined to find one. Will be bookmarking those sites for future uses. |

Found stock online, but the website seems to be a set template used multiple times on different addresses. Found nothing with fills me with confidence in using any one of them! So looks like W124 is the route to go down. For reference, generic template sites which I wasn't comfortable with using: barwell-spares.com auto24spares.com oldstockspares.com |

All those websites you've listed are based in Panama and have their website contact details restricted. In the UK at least you aren't allowed to hide your details if you use the website for trading (not sure if that's true for websites based in countries outside of the UK however) I'd steer very clear of them as well. |

Damn missed that. I cancelled both debit and credit cards after trying one of them, thankfully no damage done. I did wonder how they managed to have stock of everything! |
